But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have firmly believed, knowing from whom you learned it and how from childhood you have been acquainted with the sacred writings, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. II Timothy 3:14,15
From its very beginning the Lutheran church has held the daily encounter with God’s Word, the Bible, as an essential element of the Christian faith. Martin Luther’s translation of the Bible from Latin into the common German was for “removing impediments and difficulties so that other people may read it without hindrance."
The writing of the Small Catechism was written and structured “in a simple way in which the head of the house is to present them to the household.” And we are told in the Preface to the Large Catechism, “Let them never stop until they have proved by experience and are certain that they have taught the devil to death and have become more learned than God himself and all his saints.”
All of our activities have some aspect of learning involved in them. Our encounters with God’s Word is our encounter with God. It is how He speaks to us today and comforts us with His love and grace.
For over 25 years our Grace has provided Midland with one of the community’s premiere Early Childhood Programs. Serving families with children ages 1 through Kindergarten, the Early Childhood Program provides a Christ centered atmosphere and curriculum that focuses on the spiritual, physical, emotional, social and intellectual development of children. The program is licensed by the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services and accredited by the National Lutheran School Accreditation, which is recognized by the Texas Education Agency.
